Public Workshops
Public workshops are open to individual participants and are held on scheduled dates throughout the year.
These small-group sessions offer a calm, hands-on introduction to sashiko, combining stitching practices with cultural background and stories rooted in everyday Japanese life.
Group Workshops
Group workshops are private sessions arranged by advance booking for organizations and groups, available for parties of six or more.
Programs are adapted to the group’s purpose, schedule, and size, supporting educational visits, corporate programs, and shared cultural experiences.

Public Workshops
Group Workshops
In addition to our regular public workshops, SASHIKO.LAB offers private sashiko experiences for groups such as schools, companies, and travel organizations. These workshops are designed to provide a calm, hands-on introduction to sashiko as a living Japanese tradition, held in an intimate atelier setting in Kyoto.

- Minimum group size: 6 participants
- Maximum group size: 20 participants (depending on program content)
- Duration: 2 to 3 hours (flexible)
- Location: SASHIKO.LAB atelier, Kyoto
Alternative venues may be considered depending on group size and requirements.
All group workshops are by advance reservation only.
Workshop Content
Group workshops are structured around the following elements:
- Introduction to sashiko and its cultural background
- Basic sashiko stitching techniques (beginner-friendly)
- Hands-on stitching experience
- Insights into Japanese values of care, repair, and mindful making
Workshop content can be adapted based on age group, cultural background, and available time.

During the pandemic, SASHIKO.LAB held monthly online sashiko classes, welcoming participants from around the world and staying connected across distance through thread.
