Really great way to know better about the culture of Kyoto in regards to handcraft. Kazue goes the extra mile and tailors to your needs, so be ready to share with her what you are looking for. After the tour I felt much more confident to access Japanese craft shops and was set up for my own browsing. Huge thanks to Kazue!

Kazue personally tailored my Craft Shop hopping experience to suit my love of textiles. Communication beforehand and during the experience was prompt, clear, easy, friendly and informative. Kazue shared her passion for textiles and understood mine. She took me to out of the way little shops that I never would have found on my own. Special highlights were: the needle shop; visiting the embroidery restoration studio; and the contemporary Kyoto fabrics store. If you love textiles (or other crafts I’m sure) Kazue’s experience is excellent value and well worth doing.
Thank you Kazue for making this the highlight of my time in Kyoto!

Kazue was a spectacular guide. I had a list of craft-related items that I wanted to buy and had no idea where to even begin. I was so excited to find this tour and it was worth every penny and more!

Kazue is an artisan herself and cares deeply about craft. She knows the little shops that most tourists would not know to look for and her ability to translate opened up a lot more opportunities to find specific items or learn about their history.

Kazue is a wonderful host and so accommodating. She guided us to some stores that were real gems and it felt like we were just skimming the surface of what she and Kyoto has to offer in terms of art and crafts. We were both super grateful to have had her as a guide and were inspired by her style and creative insights - highly recommend Kazue if you are interested in any craft or creative work. Enjoy!

This was my first time using Experiences and it was perfect. Kazue was so knowledge and made the tour exactly what I'd hoped it would be! She was very friendly and easy to talk to, and didn't rush us in the stores at all, yet somehow managed to keep us all on track. It was so nice to have someone showing the way around, and it was a sincerely great time. The shops she picked were just perfect and the map at the end was useful-- just finished returning from a few after a second visit! If you're on the fence, go for it!

Kazue really personalized the experience for us. After I saw almost all of the reviews for the fabric and needle shop I was worried that our interests (stationary, woodworking, books, etc) wouldn't be able to be met. Kazue made a great tour and we visited an amazing washi store as well as many old bookstores too.

Today was a dream come true for me! Running around from one Japanese craft shop to another, examining all of the amazing supplies and sharing a passion of all things craft, it was amazing. Kazue curated our tour based on our preferences and the entire trip couldn't have been any more perfect. We also took the Sashiko workshop w/her and I highly recommend both, especially if you're passionate about Japanese arts and crafts.

Craft shopping with Kazue in Kyoto was the experience of a lifetime for me! I am an avid sewer and I love vintage Japanese fabrics. Kazue first took me to the amazing needlemaker whose family has owned the business for 360 years. She then brought me to a vintage fabric store whose owner has a wealth of knowledge. I was able to purchase gorgeous kimono and indigo-dyed fabrics from the Edo and Meiji periods. Kazue waited with incredible patience as I rifled through the bins. She then took me to her secret Sashiko heaven, which had tons of supplies at incredible prices.

Kazue had many more stops planned, but I chose to spend most of my time with the beautiful antique fabrics. She let me take my time at each stop, and I never felt rushed. It was a wonderful way to spend a morning in Kyoto!
